Teen Meditation Class

2/23/2012 6:30 PM - 8:00 PM at Keystone Church (Map) (4 Thursdays (2/23 - 3/15))

This 4-week class is designed for teens who want to learn to meditate. Instructions will include how to focus on the breath, how to notice arising sensations, emotions, and thoughts, and how to “relax, observe, and allow.”

Meditation can be a means to release stress and anxiety. It fosters self acceptance and mindfulness and increases mental and physical health. Come and experience a sense of well being and relaxation in a safe, supportive environment.
The teacher, Krista Gemmell Harris, is a semi-retired leader of InterPlay, an improvisational arts based social movement dedicated to ease, connection, human sustainability and play. She has been practicing Vipassana meditation at SIMS for eleven years and she has raised two teenagers. Krista will include some easy meditative movement forms in the class sessions.

This class is intended for high school teens and very mature middle school teens. Participants are asked to choose to attend of their own free will, not due to parental pressure.  For more information please contact Krista by email by clicking here.

The class is free of charge; all are welcome. The teachings are nondenominational.
