Zen practice has more to say about meditation than about the details of practicing in our lives. Using a famous Indo-Tibetan text as a take-off point, we'll explore this territory with visiting teacher Norman Fisher, in a weekend non-residential retreat, at Bastyr University. Classical Zen is strong on meditation but not so strong on the details of how to apply meditation to your emotional life. We'll spend the weekend taking a zen-inspired look at a famous traditional Indo-Tibetan text that speaks to this. The text includes fifty-nine pithy practice points that we will talk about and meditate on. if you want to study in advance, here are two titles: C. Trungpa, "Training the Mind and Cultivating Loving Kindness", and P. Chodron, "Start Where You Are".
Each day of this retreat begins at 9:00am and ends at 4:30 pm. Bastyr University is located at 14500 Juanita Drive, Kenmore, and we will meet in the Hemlock Room.
Online registration for this event closes 48 hours prior to the event.
